Riihigalleria

"I call the gallery a hidden gem — its atmosphere both delights and surprises."
– Sohvi Koskinen

You can enjoy unique art experiences in Riihigalleria, located in Kuhmoinen. The gallery was built by artist Niilo Suojoki using six traditional grain-drying barns (riihi) from the surrounding area. Riihigalleria hosts a changing summer exhibition each year, along with a permanent collection of works by Suojoki himself.

The building features five exhibition rooms and a café, where you can also purchase high-quality local handicrafts, which are perfect as souvenirs or gifts.

Riihigalleria offers a unique atmosphere and has been preserved almost in its original form. After Purnu, it is the second-oldest continuously operating summer exhibition space in Finland. These two galleries are located just over 30 kilometers apart, making it easy to visit both in one day while enjoying the charming countryside along the way.

Riihigalleria is located in the village of Päijälä, right beside a small rapid — a truly striking setting. Its distinctiveness, powerful presence, and beautiful location make it a truly special destination.
